At The Nest Scan Studio, our Early Pregnancy Scan in Blackburn, Ribchester & Lancashire, is available from 6–13 weeks and is performed by an experienced NHS-trained sonographer.
Whether you're seeking reassurance, confirmation of pregnancy or a more accurate estimate of your due date, we're here to support you in a calm and professional environment.
Our scans are performed transabdominally (over the abdomen).
Appointment duration: 20 minutes
FAQ’s about the early pregnancy scans
What can be seen on an early pregnancy scan?
Depending on how far along you are, we may be able to confirm the pregnancy location, see a gestational sac, yolk sac, fetal pole and heartbeat.
When is the best time to book an early pregnancy scan?
Most clients attend between 7 and 10 weeks for the most reassuring experience.
Do I need a full bladder?
Yes, we recommend drinking water before your appointment to improve image quality.
Does this replace my NHS scan?
No. Our early pregnancy scans complement your NHS maternity care and do not replace NHS appointments.
How to prepare for your scan
1. If you are unsure of the first day of your last menstrual period, we recommend attending three weeks after a positive pregnancy test.
2. Please attend with a full bladder – drink approximately one pint of water one hour before your appointment
3. Please arrive 5 minutes early

· Scans are available from 16 years of ages, Clients under 18 must attend with a responsible adult
· No GP referral required.
