FAQ’s about the 4D pregnancy scans
When is the best time for a 4D baby scan?
For the best images, we generally recommend attending between 26 and 32 weeks of pregnancy.
What is the difference between 3D and 4D?
3D creates detailed still images of your baby, while 4D allows you to watch movements in real time.
What if my baby is not in a good position?
Sometimes babies prefer to hide their faces. We will do everything possible to obtain the best images during your appointment.
Can family members attend?
Yes, partners and loved ones are welcome to share this special experience.
Does this replace my NHS scan?
No. Our 3D and 4D baby scans complement your NHS maternity care and do not replace NHS appointments.

How to prepare for your scan
1. Please attend with an empty bladder
2. Please arrive 5 minutes before your appointment
3D / 4D imaging quality can vary depending on your baby’s position, placental location, and the amount of amniotic fluid present.
Scans are available between 22–35 weeks gestation
If you have an anterior placenta, we generally recommend attending no later than 29 weeks gestation for optimal images
This does not mean a scan cannot be performed outside of these recommendations.

Occasionally, baby’s position may make it difficult to confirm the gender during your appointment.
In this situation, a complimentary re-scan will be offered at the earliest convenience.This scan does not replace your NHS hospital scan
